A short hike in the beautiful Avérole Valley, near Bessans. The route presents no particular difficulties, and you can truly breathe in the essence of the Vanoise along the way, which is why I highly recommend it!

Start from the village of Vincendières, where a footbridge allows you to cross the torrent. You then follow the Avérole torrent on the left bank, and you can admire the pretty hamlets on the other bank at your leisure.
Surprisingly, it's advisable to watch out for serac falls in the area. Although we're at a low altitude, we're located just below the Pointe de Charbonnel and its glacier!

The trail then climbs into a typical Vanoise landscape, between larches. You can already see the Avérole refuge on its promontory in the distance.
As I was passing a little higher up, I disturbed a whole flock of vultures who were peacefully taking a nap. So the poor things had to fly away!

We then arrive at a shepherd's hut. The landscape is then enchanting, the Avérole valley is surrounded by peaks with vertical walls. We can then choose to continue the hike a little in the Avérole valley on a round trip (the path leads to the Autaret pass, which you will find the description in my route from Guillestre to Mont Blanc).
Then go back down to the other bank of the torrent. Avérole refuge, you can treat yourself to a well-deserved blueberry pie. Plus, the keepers are friendly, and there are free-roaming chickens on the terrace.

Finally, from the refuge, descend to the magnificent village of Avérole, which you walk along its entire length. The end of the route simply follows the very small road that leads to Vincendières.
